CERRIGWEN, I agree with you. They find all kinds of ways to cheat. I remember some kids were caught putting answers on the Texas Insurantment Calcultors.

I was told they read them to make sure the student is not texting during class. And the student had the phone out to use the calculator on it.

The parent should sent the student to school prepared as in, send a calculator if they are in the grade that uses one. If not the student should know how to solve the problem the old fashion way....

It does depend on when and how the phone the was being used. If the student was using the phone during a test without permission, then yes the teacher should be able to look through the cell phone....
